American President Donald Trump has banned entry into the US for citizens from 12 countries. Moldova is not among the targeted states. These are countries considered by the White House to pose a “high level threat to US national security”: Afghanistan, Burma, Chad, Congo, Equatorial Guinea, Eritrea, Haiti, Iran, Libya, Somalia, Sudan, and Yemen. The restriction was announced by the White House press service, as reported by IPN.
Moreover, entry has been partially restricted for citizens from seven countries: Burundi, Cuba, Laos, Sierra Leone, Togo, Turkmenistan, and Venezuela. The ban will come into effect on June 9th.
However, Trump’s order provides exceptions for permanent residents of the USA, holders of diplomatic visas, UN or NATO visas, athletes, and individuals “whose entry is in the national interest of the United States of America”.
“We will reinstate the travel ban, which some refer to as the ‘Trump ban’, and keep radical Islamic terrorists away from our country”, stated the White House leader.
Donald Trump mentioned that the list of countries whose citizens are banned from entering the US might be expanded because of “threats emerging around the world. “The White House deputy press secretary, Abigail Jackson, specified that in this way, the leader from Washington is fulfilling his promise to protect Americans from “dangerous foreign actors who want to come to our country and harm us”.
