A man from Cimișlia was sentenced to 19 years in prison for the murder of an elderly man with disabilities. The two drank alcoholic beverages together and then got into an argument. The former hit the old man with his fists and feet and also with a metal scoop until the latter died, IPN reports.
It happened in July 2024, in the victim’s home. Due to his advanced age and disability, the old man was unable to defend himself. When the crime was committed, the convict was 31 years old. Subsequently, he tried to hide, but was found and detained. He was in an advanced state of inebriation.
In court, the man pleaded not guilty. In addition to the fact that he was sentenced to 19 years in prison, he was also ordered to 28,000 lei court costs.
The man was earlier convicted of various crimes committed with the use of violence.
