The State Guard and Protection Service will be empowered to initiate and do polygraph testing. A bill to this effect was given a first reading by Parliament, IPN reports.
The polygraph test will be conducted by an authorized specialist of the State Guard and Protection Service in accordance with the legal provisions. The Service has a lie detector that was donated by the international development partners.
Currently, polygraph testing can be initiated by the Superior Council of Magistracy, the Superior Council of Prosecutors, the bodies of the Ministry of the Interior, the National Anticorruption Center, the Security and Intelligence Service, and the Customs Service.
The legislative proposal was put forward by PAS MPs Andrian Cheptonar and Oazu Nantoi. According to them, the bill was drafted in a move to adjust the law on polygraph testing to the law on the State Guard and Protection Service.
