One of the Chisinau-Bucharest flights was postponed by almost five hours after an escalator came into contact with an aircraft on Monday morning, IPN reports.
The Chisinau International Airport said that the escalator was operated by Aeroport Handling. It came into contact with a Wizz Air aircraft, which was on the ground.
“We confirm the occurrence of the incident and mention that it did not affect the safety of passengers or staff. All questions regarding the exact causes and circumstances of the incident are to be addressed to the companies involved: Wizz Air and Airport Handling,” reads a press release issued by the Chisinau International Airport.
According to the quoted source, the decision regarding the cancellation or postponement of the Chisinau-Bucharest flight belongs exclusively to the airline operator Wizz Air.
The Chisinau-Bucharest flight was scheduled for 08:30 a.m. and after the incident it was set for 01:00 p.m.
