The circulation of vehicles exceeding a total weight of 12 tons will be restricted on national public roads, during the period of June 28 to July 1, due to heatwave warnings. According to authorities, during the orange and red alert periods, these vehicles will not be able to circulate between 10:00 AM and 08:00 PM, reports IPN.
The National Road Administration specifies that the measure aims to protect the road infrastructure from the effects of extreme temperatures. In conditions of heatwave, the asphalt reduces its resistance, and the circulation of heavy vehicles can cause permanent deformations, which affect traffic safety and lead to high repair costs.
These restrictions do not apply to passenger transport, the transport of perishable goods, medical equipment, emergency interventions, the transport of live animals, fuel distribution, etc.
Meteorologists have issued yellow, orange, and red heatwave warnings. Depending on the area and the time frame, the maximum temperatures will fluctuate between +33 and +41 degrees Celsius.
