SA Energocom repaid €35 million of the first tranche of the loan taken out from the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) last year, which was to be repaid by May 1. The first tranche of €100 million is to be repaid by July 1, IPN reports.
The loan raised within the Moldova Gas Security Supply Project was used during October 17, 2023 – January 10, 2023 for diversifying the natural gas purchase sources and creating strategic supplies for preventing emergencies when the whole Europe was bracing for a halt in natural gas supplies from Russia’s Gazprom.
There were bought over 300 million cubic meters of gas within 130 rounds of tender contests held according to the EBRD rules, with the participation of observers of law enforcement agencies.
The revolving loan is repayable in three years.
