The network of model schools will be expanded with another 15 institutions. They will be renovated and outfitted with modern equipment and furniture. For this purpose, the Government will access €35 million funding from the Council of Europe Development Bank (CEB), of which €5 million is grant funding. The signing of the agreement was approved on Wednesday, IPN reports.
Minister of Education and Research Dan Perciun said the investments will be redirected to 15 schools with about 12,800 students and teachers. The funding will ensure the rehabilitation of schools and the development of adjoining lands. More specifically, energy efficiency measures will be implemented and access conditions for people with reduced mobility will be created. Also, the auxiliary infrastructure, including water and sewerage networks, will be modernized.
In total, 90 model schools will be created in all the districts and municipalities of the Republic of Moldova by 2028–2029.
