Singer Lidia Bejenaru-Botgros passed away

Lidia Bejenaru-Botgros, soloist of the National Folk Music Orchestra “Lăutarii” died. The announcement was made by the director general of the state-run enterprise “Moldova-Concert” Andrei Locoman, who noted that July 26 will remain a sad day in the world of folk music.

“Lidia Bejenaru-Botgros, the lifelong soloist of the National Folk Music Orchestra “Lăutarii”, ended her life performance here, on the earth. She withdrew behind the curtains of eternity, but will be bidden farewell with applause and flowers, as she was met by her admirers on stage during 45 years,” stated Andrei Locoman.

Folk music singer Lidia Bejenaru was born in Țiplești village of Sângerei district on May 3, 1953. She studied at “Elena Sârbu” School of Culture in Soroca in 1968-1971. She was the soloist of the Edineț orchestra “Ciocârlia”, folk music orchestras “Mugurel” and “Lăutarii” of “Sergei Lunkevich” National Philharmonic. In 1993, she was awarded the Medal “Civic Merit”.

In 1971, she married to the future conductor of “Lăutarii” Orchestra Nicolae Botgros. Folk music singer Cornel Botgros is their son.
