The National Agency for Energy Regulation has approved an increase in the natural gas tariff to 24.20 lei per cubic meter. Thus, including VAT, household consumers will pay, starting from October 1, 26.14 lei for a cubic meter of natural gas, reports IPN.
The new rate is 5.84 lei or approximately 29% higher than the current one, which is 20.30 lei per cubic meter, set by ANRE starting from September 1st.
For the other categories of consumers, the price, excluding VAT, will be 19.62 lei for one cubic meter in the case of high-pressure distribution networks and 20.69 lei for medium-pressure ones.
The increase was justified by the need to avoid significant financial losses for the supplier. According to Energocom, maintaining the current tariff would generate tariff deviations that would subsequently need to be recovered from consumers and could lead to a more pronounced price increase in a later period.
The new rates for natural gas are set to come into effect from October 1st.
