Almost half of the 100 thousand smart meters planned until 2027 have been installed in Moldova. According to the Ministry of Energy, the project contributes to the modernization of the energy system, to a more efficient management of energy consumption, and to bills calculated based on actual consumption, reports IPN.
So far, 44,520 smart meters have been installed. The authorities mention that these devices allow for precise monitoring of consumption and more efficient management of energy resources.
The implementation of the project is carried out with the support of the United Nations Development Programme and the Government of Italy, which endorse the expansion of the smart metering system, the strengthening of cyber security, and the development of energy communities.
