The fiscal policy for 2027 is expected to bring an additional 5.1 billion lei to the state budget. Out of this amount, approximately 820 million lei are expected to come from income tax, 1.6 billion lei from VAT, and 2.7 billion lei from excise duties, reports IPN.
According to the Minister of Finance, Victoria Belous, in the case of excise duties, additional revenues are associated, among other things, with the increase in excise duties on tobacco products, fuels and cars, as well as with the expansion of the tax base on certain beverages and the introduction of new excise duties.
At the same time, the Government is introducing a new sin tax of 6% for participation in gambling and lotteries, if the provision from the fiscal policy project for 2027 will be applied. The tax is expected to be calculated from the money deposited to replenish game accounts and from the value of lottery tickets, with the responsibility for collection and remittance to the budget falling on the organizers.
The data included in the document shows that the budgetary revenues from this sector were approximately 505 million lei in 2025. In the first six months of 2026, about 436.3 million lei have already been accumulated, and for the entire year, a level of approximately 872.5 million lei is estimated.
