A Moldovan citizen, wanted for fraud, has been extradited from the United States of America to face justice. The information was communicated by the US Embassy in Chisinau, through a post on social networks, reports IPN.
He was wanted by Interpol. According to the embassy, the return was made possible as a result of cooperation between law enforcement authorities in the USA and the Republic of Moldova. “There is no safe haven for financial crime,” conveyed the American diplomatic mission.
The US Embassy clarifies that the joint efforts aim at combating cross-border financial crimes, protecting institutions against fraud, and citizens of both countries.
The General Inspectorate of Police specifies that the man, aged 44, was announced for international search for the purpose of arrest and extradition, following criminal investigations into the commission of a particularly large-scale fraud. The criminal case is under investigation by the Rascani Police Inspectorate of the Chisinau Police Directorate. The extradition from the USA was carried out on the basis of a final expulsion order.
