A hotbed of COVID-19 was reported at a refugee center in Botanica district of Chisinau, the chief health officer of Chisinau Boris Gîlcă stated in the ordinary meeting of officials of municipal services. Twelve Ukrainian children with COVID-19 accommodated at this center were hospitalized, IPN reports.
Boris Gîlcă said that the number of cases of COVID-19 has increased in Chisinau, but the capital city is still on green alert. The center where the hotbed was reported in not under the management of the Chisinau City Hall.
Even if the COVID-19 vaccination rate in Chisinau is the highest in Moldova, of about 50%, the booster shot coverage rate is low. Only 23% of those who got vaccinated with the first and second doses got also a booster shot.
At Municipal Maternity Hospital No. 2, the number of pregnant women with COVID-19 has grown. Nine pregnant women with COVID-19 have been hospitalized there. At the Municipal Children’s Contagious Diseases Hospital, there were activated two wards for patients with COVID-19, added Boris Gîlcă.
