Application containing digital IDs to be designed

The authorities are working on an application through which the citizens will have access to IDs, such as the identity card and the driver’s license, in electronic form and will be able to ask for all kinds of extracts and certificates and to file petitions, IPN reports.

Deputy Prime Minister Dumitru Alaiba, Minister of Economic Development and Digitization, said the application will be similar to the Ukrainian application “Diia”. The authorities are now looking for a name for the national application.

“In the 21t century, the state is in the mobile phone. One can use this to pay taxes, to start a business, to take a permit, to make a donation for the Ukrainian army or to submit a complaint or a petition. “Diia” is also used by teenagers and pensioners. We are also preparing a super-application that will change the way in which the citizens and the entrepreneurs look at the state. The e-Governance Agency is working assiduously and USAID Moldova supports it in this effort,” stated Dumitru Alaiba.

According to him, they are now working on the application and the first version is to be launched for users in several months. “But we need a good name. A very good one! It is our chance to redefine what the state means for the citizen. We should bring the state closer to the people and should inspire greater hope, ensure transparency and, what is more important, the quality of services. We must minimize corruption risks,” stated the official

“What name should the Moldovan “Diia” have? If we find an appropriate name, the author of this will get a surprise award and, if this is interested, will be invited to form part of an advisory board to promote the application,” said Dumitru Alaiba.
