The designated ambassador of the United States to the Republic of Moldova, Joseph Mark Burkhalter, has arrived in Chisinau. The diplomat stated that he aims to contribute to the strengthening and development of relations between the USA and the Republic of Moldova, reports IPN.
In a message addressed to the citizens of the Republic of Moldova, Burkhalter said that he wishes to get to know the country and its people better. On his first stroll through Chisinau, the diplomat visited the Public Garden “Stefan cel Mare si Sfant”, the ruler’s monument, and the city center, including the buildings of the Parliament, the Government, and the Presidency.
Additionally, the designated ambassador visited the open-air photographic exhibition “September 11: 25 Years of Remembrance”, organized by the US Embassy in Chisinau. The exhibition includes archive photos, images of memorials, and personal stories related to the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001.
Joseph Mark Burkhalter was nominated in June by President Donald Trump and confirmed by the US Senate in August. The post of US Ambassador to Chisinau remained vacant after the end of Kent D. Logsdon’s term.
Burkhalter is a member of the Republican Party and has nearly 20 years of experience in the Georgia State House of Representatives.
