Access to the Chisinau airport terminal is permitted only to passengers and authorized staff until May 16. The Border Police said that the number of personnel and special control equipment was increased to meet the current challenges and guarantee the security of travelers, IPN reports.
The decision to restrict access to the terminal was taken for passenger security and to increase the capacity to deal with the larger flow of people flying to and from Chisinau during the Easter holidays. The taken measures are necessary also due to the higher number of bomb hoaxes and the use of the airport terminal for political purposes by particular criminal groups that hinder the work of security services, reads a press release.
“The Border Police regret the discomfort caused to passengers, but we emphasize that our priority is the safety of citizens. We apologize for the inconvenience caused to those who meet their relatives and loved ones,” the same source said.
Access to the airport terminal has been restricted since May 1.
