The emergency request to transfer the case of Marina Tauber from the Bălți District Court to the Bălți Court of Appeals has been rejected by the latter, announced Judge Natalia Costaș of the District Court.
The case was initiated by the Central Electoral Commission that seeks to remove Tauber (Shor Party) from the mayoral runoff, to take place in Bălți this coming Sunday. The Commission cites campaign finance violations.
Tauber is blaming President Maia Sandu for the elimination attempt.
Earlier, lawyers for Tauber sought to have the case transferred to another court of the same level, claiming that Nicolai Grigorișin, a local politician and Tauber’s contestant, could exert undue pressure on the Bălți district court.
With the transfer request rejected, proceedings will continue in the Bălți district court.
