The municipal services worked all night to maintain traffic. Interventions were made in all sectors of the capital to prevent icing and frost, with anti-skid material being spread. The work continues even now, both mechanically and manually, on main and secondary streets, as well as in stations and underground passages, reports IPN.
The Chisinau City Hall specifies that the situation remains difficult due to temperature fluctuations and sleet, which favor the rapid formation of a layer of ice and frost on the roads.
“Special attention is given to the access routes to educational institutions, hospitals and municipal medical centers, to facilitate the safe movement of residents in the early hours of the morning”, the municipality specifies.
Profile services remain mobilized in the field to clean sidewalks, public transport stations and pedestrian walkways, constantly monitoring the evolution of weather conditions.
Meteorologists have issued a yellow warning for frost and ice for Thursday and Friday. In light of this, the capital’s city hall has decided that students should stay home on these two days. The General Directorate for Education, Youth, and Sports states that educational institutions will decide whether to organize online classes or make up for lost hours at a later date.
