The Moldovan athlete Andrian Mardare finished in 11th place in the javelin throw final at the World Championships in Budapest. The 28-year-old recorded a result of 79.66 meters.
Besides Mardare, Moldova had three other representatives at the World Championships in Hungary. Dimitriana Bezede ranked 22nd in the shot put, Serghei Marghiev 18th in the hammer throw, and Maxim Răileanu finished the marathon in 53rd place, out of 85 athletes registered at the start.
Athletes from 46 countries came together for the World Championships in Budapest. The United States ranked first in the medal standings, followed by Canada and Spain.
