Over 1,000 vacancies are currently available in the Police system. Most of the vacant positions – almost 700 – are those of officers, and 460 are posts of non-commissioned officers, shows the General Police Inspectorate’s report for the first quarter of this year, which is quoted by IPN.
Most of the vacant positions are available at the police inspectorates in Hancesti (42), Anenii Noi (34), Sangerei (32), Criuleni (30). At the Forensic Expertise Center, there is a shortage of over 30 employees.
For the General Police Inspectorate, the exodus of staff and the lack of qualified personnel are a challenge. In order to fill the vacant positions, measures were taken to inform, sensitize, familiarize students, graduates of secondary schools, high schools, vocational education institutions, regarding the possibility of employment in the police system.
According to the staffing lists, the Police has 9,126 positions, of which 5,453 are posts of police officers, 3,438 are posts of non-commissioned officers and 235 are civilian posts. Actually, 20 civilians are to be employed at the Ministry of Interior this year.
At the end of March, the workforce consisted of 7,958 employees, of which 7,741 were certified employees (4,763 police officers and 2,978 non-commissioned officers) and 217 civilian employees. In the first quarter, 218 people were employed, of which 43 were women and 175 were men.
The report also shows that management positions are mostly held by men – 772, and only 123 are held by women. Of the total number of police employees, women constitute 25.4% or 2,024 employees (1,304 officers, 539 non-commissioned officers, 181 civilian employees).
The General Police Inspectorate also said that it terminated the service relationship with 265 employees. In most cases, 125 in number, the employees completed their seniority and were entitled to a pension. Also, 101 cases were resignations. Other reasons included reaching the age limit in service (12), repeated breaches of service discipline over the course of a year or committing a serious violation (4).
