President conducts visits to European Parliament, in the Netherlands and in the Czech Republic

President Maia Sandu is making visits this week to the European Parliament, the Netherlands, and Prague, Czech Republic, where she will participate in the Globsec conference. The presidential administration specifies that the agenda of the visits aims at promoting the interests of the citizens of the Republic of Moldova, strengthening partnerships for the country’s security and development, as well as supporting the path to accession to the European Union, reports IPN.

On May 19, in Strasbourg, where the plenary session of the European Parliament is taking place, the head of state, Maia Sandu, will have meetings with the president of the European legislature, Roberta Metsola. She will also hold discussions with representatives of the main European political groups: the European People’s Party, the Progressive Alliance of Socialists and Democrats, the European Conservatives and Reformists, Renew Europe and the Greens/European Free Alliance.

At the same time, Maia Sandu will be decorated with the European Order of Merit. The distinction was established by the European Parliament on the occasion of the 75th anniversary of the Schuman Declaration and is awarded to personalities who have significantly contributed to the promotion of European values and the strengthening of the European project.

On May 20th, the president will be on a working visit to the Netherlands, where she will meet with Prime Minister Rob Jetten and Foreign Minister Tom Berendsen.

At the invitation of the Czech President, Petr Pavel, the head of state will participate, on May 21, at the GLOBSEC Forum in Prague, one of the most important international platforms dedicated to security and foreign policy. On the sidelines of the event, Maia Sandu will have a bilateral meeting with her counterpart and will deliver a speech about the experience of the Republic of Moldova in protecting democracy and combating foreign interference.
