During a routine check of postal items at the Chisinau International Airport, border guards and customs officials discovered a suspicious object, similar to a toy in the shape of a car, which appeared to contain components of an explosive device. The object was examined with the X-ray scanning device, IPN reports.
The authorities called out a team of the Technical-Forensic and Judicial Expertise Center of the General Police Inspectorate, which successfully neutralized the object.
“The quick and professional intervention ensured the management of the incident without jeopardizing the safety of passengers, airport staff or airport operations. The Chisinau International Airport continued to work under normal conditions, and all passengers are safe,” the Border Police said.
