The General Assembly of Judges elected four members to the Superior Council of Magistracy (SCM) for a six-year term.
Five judges competed in the secret ballot: Vasile Șchiopu from the Ungheni Court received 220 votes, Ioana Chironeț from the Chisinau/Center District Court got 215 votes, Sergiu Caraman from the Criuleni Court got 185 votes, and 158 judges voted for Maria Frunze from the Chisinau Court.
Judge Livia Mitrofan from the Chisinau/Center District Court accumulated 148 votes and was designated an alternate member of the CSM.
Earlier, the freshly reshuffled CSM has assembled with four members on board: the three non-judge members appointed by Parliament – Tatiana Ciaglic, Alexandru Postica and Ion Guzun, plus Judge Nina Cernat.
