On World Press Freedom Day, President Maia Sandu stresses that Moldova needs as many well-trained journalists as possible, free to inform the citizens about important things for society and courageous in exposing acts of corruption, no matter who commits them, IPN reports.
On the occasion of this day, the head of state came with a message of appreciation addressed to all the journalists who do their job honestly and serve the public interest. According to her, the free press is the guarantee of a democratic society. “Being an honest journalist means being a free journalist,’” said President Sandu.
World Press Freedom Day is marked annually on May 3.
