A 29-year-old man added more years to his jail term after he escaped for two times from prison. The prisoner, who was convicted of seven thefts, tried to illegally cross the state border, IPN reports.
The Prosecutor General’s Office said the young man was accused of housebreakings in the municipality of Chisinau and in other localities in 2018-2019. He stole different things to the value of over 200,000 lei. He was convicted and served time in Penitentiary No. 12. In May 2019, when being transferred to the remand prison of the Ștefan Vodă Police Inspectorate in connection with the examination of another case, he escaped and tried to illegally cross the border with Ukraine. He was caught in a wooded strip in Ștefan Vodă district, not far from the border.
In March 2021, he got a final sentence of 12 years in jail and was transferred to Penitentiary No. 4 Cricova. In May 20212, he escaped at night from the temporary quarantine area of the administrative block, but was caught again. As a result, he was given a final sentence of 14 years in semi-open prison.
