The residents of Aluatu village of Taraclia district failed to elect their mayor last Sunday as only 79 persons cast their ballots there, which is 11% of the voting-eligible citizens. Therefore, the mayoral election will be rerun in two weeks, IPN reports.
A number of 770 electors were expected to vote in the election last Sunday. For the election to be validated, at least 154 voters or 20% of those eligible were to mark their ballots.
If the election cannot be validated, the Central Election Commission orders to rerun the election in two weeks, with the same candidates and the same electoral councils and offices.
