On the occasion of the 35th anniversary of the adoption of the Sovereignty Declaration, a photographic exhibition was inaugurated at the Presidency. “The images reconstruct those days full of hope – with people who had the courage to believe in a better future,” the presidential administration specifies, quoted by IPN.

The Declaration of Sovereignty was voted on June 23, 1990 by the deputies of the Supreme Soviet of the Moldavian Soviet Socialist Republic. This document laid the foundation for the drafting of the Constitution, the supreme law of the Republic of Moldova. The adoption of the Declaration of Sovereignty is considered the first significant victory of the democratic forces in the struggle for national rebirth and liberation.

This year, President Maia Sandu has invited citizens to the Sovereignty March, which will take place on Monday, June 23, marking 35 years since the adoption of the Sovereignty Declaration. Those wishing to participate in the event are expected at 7:00 PM, at the monument of Ion and Doina Aldea-Teodorovici, on Alexei Mateevici Street in the city of Chisinau.

“I invite you to the Sovereignty March, to celebrate the courage of our ancestors and our shared aspiration to live free and dignified in Moldova,” declared the head of state.
