As of March 31, there were about 363,000 residents of the Transnistrian region in the State Population Register. Of them, 354,000 hold the citizenship of the Republic of Moldova.
The Office for Reintegration Policy cites the Public Services Agency data to reveal that over 331,000 residents of the left bank and of the municipality of Bender hold Moldovan passports, and over 295,000 Moldovan identity cards as well.
From January 1 to March 31, 869 residents of the Transnistrian region enjoyed facilitated procedures when being issued with Moldovan identity cards.
Additionally, from April 2018 to March 2023, a total of over 33,000 people received Moldovan citizenship under simplified procedures, and 69% were Transnistrian residents.
